Hingucker! Der Place to be in Baar.
Price very good. Food is great
any English menu please?
As always, we choose a different restaurant open on Sunday, and since I like to drive a bit to experience something new, this time we ended up in Baar, near Zug. It's an otherwise unassuming building from the 1970s. A few parking spaces right in front of the building, and apparently mostly frequented on a Sunday by older people who like to sit back and indulge in truly outstanding food. Anyone who can still remember their grandmother cooking will be able to experience it all again here: the salad was at just the right temperature and very generously served. The soup had been simmered for several hours and was so good that I immediately ordered a second one. The main course had vegetables that were perfectly cooked but far from falling apart. The meat was truly tender as butter, and the sauce was truly divine. The service was truly excellent, always checking to see if anything was missing, but never intrusive. And the absolute best part: the 75-year-old owner works at the buffet, assisted by his 99-year-old mother! We learned this because, as is rare, I had complimented the waitress so many times. Then an elderly lady approached us, sat down, and explained everything about the restaurant, including her age. A wonderful, detailed conversation that we greatly appreciated, and which allowed us to once again share our enthusiasm for the truly outstanding and sensational food – an absolute insider tip, especially at this price: only 86 francs for two people, including soup, salad, main course, drinks, and a coffee!
