Schöner Ort, mit einem Picknickplatz, einer Bar und vor allem dem Geburtsort der Schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft: dem Eidplatz. Es ist nur mit dem Boot erreichbar. Der beste Ausgangspunkt ist Brunnen, ebenfalls einen Spaziergang wert. Nicht mehr als eine Stunde in Rutli verbringen

Mythical place of creation of the Swiss nation where the first 3 Cantons swore allegiance to defend each other against all enemies(mostly Austrians) in1291. It is a modestly sized meadow on the wooded slope above the Urner Lake which in itself is in a spectacular setting amid mountain peaks sloping down precipitously to the lake. Popular, well kept excursion area with the historic meadow with the flag and nice view, a small restaurant and a picnic area with several grill places. Can be reached by boat or on foot from the village of Seelisberg perched on top of the cliff above. A popular half day trip is to take the boat from Brunnen to Treib (10min), take the cable car up to Seelisberg, and hike down to Rütli(easy 1 hour at the most), then take the boat back to Brunnen (11min)
