St. Beatus Waterfall
3800 Beatenberg, Switzerland, Beatenberg
Scenic place, there are buses running quite frequently. There are no elevators though so the climb could be a challenge. There's also a small coffee shop/museum near the entrance to sit, relax and learn about cave exploration.
St. Beatus Waterfall, located near Lake Thun in Switzerland, is a breathtaking natural attraction known for its dramatic cascades and the legendary St. Beatus Caves hidden behind them. The site combines stunning alpine scenery with myth and geology—the waterfall tumbles down limestone cliffs, creating a serene yet powerful atmosphere, while the caves stretch over 1 km into the mountain, filled with stalactites, underground rivers, and illuminated chambers. Easily accessible by car or bus from Interlaken, the area also features walking trails, scenic viewpoints, a panoramic restaurant, and a small museum. Entrance to the caves is ticketed, but visiting the waterfall area is free. With its mix of nature, folklore, and family-friendly facilities, St. Beatus is a magical stop for anyone exploring the Bernese Oberland.
Big cave, with stunning views. Don't forget to stop at the museum too. The cave pearls are so pretty in my books. Love the bath tub in the cave(what I call it don't know if it has one). It was a cool experience. Also it does get cold and wet bring a water resistant jumper. Highly recommend to visit
The views, the trails, and the fries! It's easily accessible or you can hike there. One of my favorite stops in Switzerland 🇨🇭!
Beautiful place. It is even better when you see it live rather than on a pic. It took us quite a hike to go up - but it is worth it!! 😍 you can go to see caves - excursion cost 20 franks for adult and duration is 1 hour.
Breathtaking views. You will not be disappointed. If you plan to go into the caves and it is peak season then I would recommend you book your tickets online. Make sure you wear appropriate footwear. It is a steep walk up to the caves. It is not a long walk but steep, saying that there are ample opportunities to take a little rest and enjoy the views before your next few steps
