We hired the Imwinkelried carpentry shop because the roller shutter on one of our Velux roof windows was no longer working properly. On February 11, 2025, he came by and reset the remote control for the roller shutter. As soon as he left, the system malfunctioned again. On the second visit, he explained to my wife that the battery was old and that the system would restart using the remaining power and then stop. We were told our window was too old and that they no longer had spare parts. Instead, we received a quote to replace the entire roller shutter for over CHF 1,000. A quick email to Velux with the reference number was enough to find out that a replacement kit for the motor, battery, and solar panel was available – for around CHF 200. We then hired another company to replace it. The work took half an hour. The Imwinkelried carpentry shop charged us CHF 322, including CHF 42 for Velux materials. It took three emails and two phone calls to figure out that we were billed for 2.4 hours of work, even though the installer had only been with us for a maximum of one hour. Our emails were answered, but we never received a call back. Conclusion: We will definitely not use this carpentry company again.
