Ein Lokal wo der Gast Koenig ist.! We enjoyed every bite, the wine, the service, the friendliness, the ambiance. We will be back.
Authentic cuisine in a beautiful timber-framed house in Berg am Irchel. Here, the asparagus still tastes deliciously of wonderfully flavorful, locally grown asparagus, served with melted butter, hollandaise sauce or vinaigrette, and accompanied by perfectly cooked prosciutto. The dessert with meringue, strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream is simply unbeatable, making the rich "calorie bomb" a welcome indulgence... the service is exceptionally friendly and attentive. It's a shame that the current proprietors will apparently soon be leaving the Gasthaus zur Trotte after many years of running it. One can only hope that a new team will be able to continue the high quality and remarkable hospitality in this historic setting.
The restaurant is apparently only open during asparagus and game season, but then it truly focuses on these specialties. We were there during asparagus season, and I've never tasted better asparagus with such flavorful sauces. The homemade meringues were also divine. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming and found a table for us despite having many reservations. Almost all the guests were greeted by name and seemed to live in the area. Because they also produce their own wine, you can buy it from the restaurant by taking it away. We haven't tried it ourselves yet, but local wine connoisseurs have told us it's absolutely excellent. All in all, we had a wonderful evening there.
Venison stew (CHF 46) I recently had it somewhere else for 10 CHF less, and it was just as good, with more side dishes. Therefore, I find it too expensive. But the ambiance and service were really very good, with very friendly staff. And compliments, you have one of the best coffees I've ever had! 👌🏼
This restaurant is an absolute must! The venison and meringue are simply divine, and the appetizer with fresh, crisp salad was the perfect start. Every visit is worth a culinary journey!
Delicious food. The wild boar and venison were amazing. Homemade beer and grappa too! 😍
