I was there with a children's bike and my e-bike, and they didn't want to have anything to do with either of them...I'm now a satisfied customer at Ochsner-Sport...all good :)
Saved my vacation and he's an expert! The boss of this bike repair shop (or, for the Swiss, a "Velo-Werkstatt"?) is fantastic! Friendly? Check. Expertise? Check. Help in an emergency? Check. I would give it 10 stars if I could! The situation: My vacation was a cycling trip from Geneva (Lake Geneva) to Constance (Lake Constance), mostly along the "Lakes Route" (National Cycle Route 9). After my chain broke for the second time just before Oberwil, and I was only able to repair it roughly (and shorten it further each time), it was only a matter of time before something like this happened again. Cutting it short again wouldn't have been possible – then I would have had to cut short the vacation and come up with an alternative itinerary... (The original plan was to ride the much flatter Via Rhona to the Mediterranean, but that had been canceled about two days earlier due to the coronavirus and the risk areas designated by Germany – otherwise, the strain on the chain would probably have been significantly less.) So I spontaneously stopped at Velo Reber. With all my luggage and after explaining my situation, the boss was understanding. Right after the lunch break (good for them!), he would take care of the bike. A few problems were already looming: He only had the (typically Swiss) "mountain bike groupsets," but my bike had the standard Deore XT flatland components. Whether it would all fit... he wasn't sure. I agreed anyway. What else could I do? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Let me just say this: With his experience and sound technical knowledge, even these problems were solved! Conclusion: Although it was peak season and I probably would have been turned away elsewhere, I got help here! Almost two hours of work went into my bike. In addition to the chain and cassette, the shift cable also had to be replaced. Other problems, such as a loose Shimano hub on the rear wheel, were also noticed and quickly readjusted. And something like that requires a hell of a lot of experience, especially when it was practically at the end of its lifespan... I'm incredibly grateful to the owner of this bike repair shop for taking care of my problem at such short notice and thus enabling me to make the remaining 330 km to Konstanz! In that sense: Thank you again, you saved my vacation, and I'll certainly remember it for a long time! This 5-star review is the least I can do.
Excellent advice and service. It couldn't be better, I highly recommend it!
Friendly, helpful, competent! This man knows his stuff, a real pro! He's honest and transparent! Great place to go!
He solved my problem quickly, easily and competently without a fixed appointment... Gladly again
