We happened to be driving through Schüpbach last night. We only intended to grab an espresso and then continue our journey. Then the hostess came to our table, and we immediately asked for the menu. The lady was so incredibly friendly and cheerful that we suddenly felt like eating. First, we were served an amuse-bouche: meat croquettes, very delicious. Thank you. The salad was just like Grandma used to make, but of course, it was on par with a very good kitchen. The main courses, breaded schnitzel and pork steak with herb butter, were old-school and some of the best we've had in years! Anyone who can cook simple food well can cook, in my opinion. If the menu hadn't mentioned Fisco, we would have immediately assumed the dessert was homemade. The coffee was superb; the Feldschlösschen beer was served cold with a lovely foam in a tulip glass! The salad was excellent, the Feldschlösschen cold, served with a beautiful foam in a tulip glass! After the main course, the owner and chef, who is also the chef, came to every table on the sunny terrace to ask if everything was alright. My only regret is that it's been 32 years since I last visited this wonderful Emmental inn. We had given a concert in the attic back then, with about 200 people in attendance. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food, simple yet refined country cuisine, friendly service, and a fantastic sunny terrace. And the prices are unbeatable. Our lunch was absolutely perfect. Very efficient and courteous service. Excellent value for money. Wonderfully delicious food and generous portions. Ketchup was brought without us even asking. They even brought homemade braided bread. When we asked if there were any wasps around while we were sitting outside, the server brought us a table fan to keep the insects away. The chef even came by the tables himself. Highly recommended, we'll be back!
I was there yesterday with a tour group. The food and service were very good. We were in the dining room, and it was very uncomfortable because it was very cold. Most people were wearing their jackets/coats to eat. That shouldn't happen. E. Muheim
Highly recommended. Plenty of parking spaces, including for trucks, and the food is delicious.
