Summary: After an oil heating system that broke down 3-4 times per winter, I unfortunately decided to upgrade my plumbing to a heat pump from Weishaupt AG (it's a Monday model, after all). I knew it would use more electricity. After a mild winter, I didn't notice anything major (logically, the electricity bill would be higher). But when I used 250% more electricity the following winter (it's about the actual consumption), I became suspicious. It turned out that the wrong contactor was installed (a normally closed contact instead of a normally closed contact), and thus the heating system was constantly running in "emergency mode," meaning it was primarily powered by electricity. Weishaupt AG said they would look into it and find a solution. The solution was an email (not even a phone call) saying someone must have replaced it. Excuse me? That doesn't make sense. I had unnecessary electricity costs of over CHF 4,000. In addition, the final inspection, which was supposed to rule out such errors, cost CHF 1,000. So I paid for something that wasn't done correctly. Legally, I have to prove that the contactor wasn't replaced. Of course, I can't do that. Even if the electrician may have made a mistake (it's not clearly visible on the wiring diagram), Weishaupt is responsible for ensuring everything works. I spent CHF 1,000 for a final inspection. I don't think it's right that, as a damaged customer, I'm not being offered a solution, not even a compromise. I'm a long-time customer; my parents and brother (all homeowners) are also long-time customers. That will change. The hype surrounding heat pumps has definitely gone to the company's head. On top of that, what annoys me most is that I invested several hours troubleshooting, compiling documents from AEW, and phone calls and emails with the electrician and Weishaupt AG. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the company. The only positive thing was that the technician was very friendly. But he has no decision-making power and, in the worst case, the customer will take everything for granted.

The heat pump was the biggest mistake! Once the thing is installed, the customer is left to deal with any problems on their own. And then they send hefty bills for it.

Six years ago, we had a gas condensing boiler with a buffer tank installed. Now the heat exchanger is leaking and the tank needs to be replaced. Repair is not possible. Weishaupt is offering no goodwill gesture whatsoever, even though a buffer tank of "German quality" shouldn't be broken after only six years. So, a definite warning about poor quality. Perhaps we should have opted for a high-quality Chinese product.

Disaster: I have a Weishaupt oil burner that was installed in 2010. This includes all components such as the burner, expansion tank, oil pump, etc. Since the beginning, we've paid a lot of money for a service contract including spare parts. For years, the service technicians have come reliably and done a good job. However, for the past few years, the oil pump has also started malfunctioning, and it was replaced free of charge. After that, the terms and conditions were changed, and the oil pump and other components were excluded from coverage. The oil pump is the weak point of this heating system and costs Weishaupt a lot of money, which is why they simply passed the cost on to the customer. Now I have to pay for the defects. Afterward, I wanted to inquire about a definitive and cost-effective option, but I was tempted to get a new oil heating system or heat pump. A Weishaupt employee told me that the amortization period of 15 years is already very, very good. So, I would now have to budget for another unit from Weishaupt with an amortization period of 10 years?! I'm astonished by the company and wouldn't have expected that even customers who have been with Weishaupt for over 25 years would have to discuss such issues. I will now compare various other heating systems and then decide. Weishaupt certainly has a negative point regarding its customer service, amortization period, and professionalism. I'm happy to share this with – probably – many other similarly surprised customers. The name Weishaupt stands for reliability, high Swiss quality, and excellent service. ==> Unfortunately, this isn't the case! Some employees are truly excellent (hence the two stars; otherwise, even one star would be too much)! However, the overall attitude is not at all in line with Swiss quality standards!

Our CHF 40,000 system is still not running properly after two years. Regional installer does not work with experts, headquarters in Geroldswil are arrogant, sending reminders for warranty services and sending an employee who discovered that the installation was faulty, but did not put the installer on track to fix it immediately. Weishaupt Germany washes its hands innocence. And all of this within the factory warranty period. There was also no acceptance/handover with a minimal explanation of the system!
