This was an excellent memory. Warm rooms right on the lake. Hot water in the showers. Clean, well organized setup. Quiet, friendly staff but non-intrusive. Breakfast was very complete. Coffee, well-made by a Swiss coffee machine. View of …
At night is kinda scary but it still a nice place but those who can't go upstairs is not recommended here. Toilets are outside and far but for backpackers it is good to stay.
Such a beautiful place. Affordable with great views of Lake Lucerne. The staff is very helpful as well. This is a quiet getaway from the busier cities if you're looking for quiet, this is the place. There is access to the Lake and utilizing the bus system was the best way to get around. Breakfast was provided with well balanced nutritional whole foods. There were vegetarian and vegan options for the breakfast buffet as well.
It's a great affordable option for budget travelers, and the wooden housing was comforting and felt thematic to the experience. It's a hostel, so you shouldn't expect service like a hotel, but staff were always friendly and people were mindful of sharing spaces. Beautiful location, and buses allowed us to get pretty much anywhere we wanted. Keep in mind the bus is about 7 CHF each way, consider the Swiss travel pass for cheaper transit if necessary. Breakfast was provided but dinner is reservation only. It is not a restaurant that seats walk-ins, they only have enough for the people who reserve in advance.
Definitely a hostel, aimed at a different demographic than a European Road tripper. Full of American kids it seemed. However, what a location, right on the lakeside. My room opened up to the lake. If I was with others, and was in my late teens/early twenties, it would have made a great base for Lucerne and the alps. However, just passing through. Rooms are very basic, and the WiFi doesn't reach. Also remember that your UK EU deal on phones isn't shared with Switzerland. I had to get an e-sim for my few days in the country. Shared shower and toilet rooms...ok, it is what it is, and it was clean. Stripping your own bed...well, again...you do it. Parking is at the top, by the entrance. There is a very steep path down to the actual hostel. No vehicular access. Very steep. Having to go back up twice to get things from the car...well, that's a workout in itself. The service from the staff, online and in-situ was great. I had to change my date, and despite policy saying no refunds, I was refunded for the date I no longer needed. So all positive there. Go with friends, make the most of the swimming in the make, the outside bbq etc.
Oh my gosh... this place is a glimpse of Heaven. From the view, to the rooms, to the staff. Our only regret is we only had one amazing night here! P.S. Chrisi from the front desk is amazing and I hope you're blessed to meet her!
