5 CHF for washing and 5 CHF for drying. !!!Something helpful to know: express mode isn’t available on the first washing machine. I made the mistake of putting money in without checking, then had to commit to the full 40 degrees 56 min wash as you cant cancel. And you can change notes into coins at the hostel at the back of the laundromat (just follow the checkin signs). If the reception is closed the sign says you can exchange also at the kebab store across the road.
3 washing machines, 3 dryers. No need to bring soap as signs say that soap is added automatically. There also was soap pods and fabric softener on the counter. Signs say you can exchange for coins at the conmected hostel. Free wifi. Great option for quick laundry while traveling.
Three of four washing machines worked. The first had an out of order sign. I ran the two middle washers on the 40 C Express cycle. It took 25 minutes. The dryer cycle was 45 minutes. I thought it dried the clothes thoroughly enough, but we didn’t have bulky items or denim. One of the machines I accidentally started as a wrinkle guard cycle for 16 minutes. Not sure how that happened. So I did have to run that one for a second full 45 minute cycle. I got CHF coins from the bank right next to the station and Coop. I used my debit card at the ATM and got 30 francs for $37.71. I then went into the bank and exchanged the paper for coins. Since the Coop was right there, I picked up liquid detergent for 1,60. The picture shows the bank that is around the corner to the left as you exit the cable car station. The Coop is to the left of the bank.
Here's my review plus some tips: In short; I was able to do my laundry, everything worked. Nothing stole my money. Total time: 2.5 hrs. TIPS: You will most likely need to cycle the dryer twice. Expect to spend 15 CFH. This place only takes CFH in coins. Luckily there's a bank (Raiffeisenbank Jungfrau) 1-2 minutes ' walk away that has currency exchange or ATM withdrawal. These services at the bank were available even on Sunday when it was closed. I exchanged $40 USD in $20 bills for 30 CFH (make sure you use the coin option) Based on the other reviews, we bought our own detergent to make sure it got cleaned. (1.55CFH at the coop) Later found out someone else had left detergent on top of the washers (we did the same). Theres no spot for you to add liquid detergent in so we just poured some in from the front with our clothes. If you're worried about getting a bad washer or dryer, I used the 3rd washer from the left (next to the one that sticks out more. And the far dryer on the right (closest to the door). Both worked fine. Didn't steal my money. Enjoy your clean clothes. 🫡
So appreciated this option when visiting Switzerland. We did have some issues with one dryers not working well. But overall we had a great experience, no better place to be waiting for your laundry to finish then Lauterbrunnen.
Dryers are in a separate room across the entrance way. Both use multiple coins. No problem with the washer. Dryer on the right only registered 2 Fr despite inserting two 2 Fr and one 1 Fr coins. Then it became ready to use after inserting a 2 Fr coin. So better to use 5 Fr coins.
