Legler Areal
Maschinenstrasse 6a, 8777 Luchsingen, Switzerland, Haslen GL
The production must have been very large, for the size of this industrialization. I found this on the Legler & Co. website in 1910: Mathias Legler founded the Legler & Co. AG weaving company in 1856. A spinning mill was added in 1864, and a building for it was constructed in 1870. With the high-pressure hydroelectric power plant, along with the water intake located above the Diesbach waterfall, the family created the first facility of its kind in Switzerland in 1888. The fact that the spinning mill was becoming increasingly important led, in 1910, to the construction of a new spinning mill. However, after the Second World War, it gradually lost relevance. From 1966 onwards, the company once again became exclusively a weaving company. The foundation of the international Legler textile consortium was established by the family in 1875, with the expansion into Italy. However, in 1989 the entire textile division was sold, and in 2001 production ceased at the only remaining original site in Diesbach. (Source: Industrial Culture in the Canton of Glarus). After a rainy day, you can see four waterfalls from here. A very pleasant break after a bike ride.
Very nice triennial, impressive setting in the area.
Yes, really very old :)
Old building!
