Hannes Louis produces consistently high-quality wines year after year. Of modest size (3.1 hectares), the estate is particularly renowned for its Sauvignon Blanc and Sylvaner. What impresses me personally, however, is the quality of the Pinot Noir. There, too, I find the consistency and, above all, the finesse one expects from a great Pinot Noir.

A very friendly welcome at Johannes Louis's winery in the hamlet of Schernelz. Johannes Louis is fluently bilingual. Good wines from Lake Biel (I personally find the Sauvignon Blanc excellent) and very reasonable prices. Go there; the view is superb.
