Very good company
The tradespeople and the contacts in the various trades do good work and are very competent and friendly. They would get 5 stars from me. The project manager, however, was a complete nightmare, to put it mildly. He found problems where there weren't any, and when there were problems and I had suggested solutions (because he had no ideas), he said: "It can't be done, it's impossible" (which always turned out to be possible anyway, either when I forced him to consult a specialist or simply did it myself for the sake of simplicity). His communication was poor to nonexistent. When I asked him to let me know when he was on the construction site, and I happened to be there that day, and he was there too, and then his first reaction was to make excuses for not having contacted me, it was downright ridiculous—or it would be ridiculous if this service weren't so incredibly expensive for what amounts to nothing but trouble and hassle. The business model of "I won't include everything in the quote so I can bill for it later as additional work outside the quote" isn't very appealing to customers, especially considering that the quote lacks detail (depending on the industry; for example, with the electrician, everything was listed in perfect detail). Where the quote lacks details, suddenly everyone says, "Oh, we didn't include that step; that's going to be extra work." Perhaps this isn't even a business model, but simply because the project manager lacked the ability to include everything. I should have recorded every meeting with the project manager—or better yet, pulled the plug much earlier—but I wanted to see the construction through and not have even more discussions with even more people. There was never a final inspection; I simply never heard from the project manager again after the last work was completed in March. I'm fixing the defect myself. I received an invoice after six months. There were items on them that were never quoted or carried out; at least they were removed without discussion. Nine (!) months after the "botched jobs" were no longer needed, they were taken away without any notification or phone call. At least they're finally out of the way.
We have already had the pleasure of working with GLB on several projects. The advice we received was always competent and the work professional. While things didn't always go perfectly the first time, a flawless solution was always found. We greatly appreciate this and look forward to continued successful collaboration in the future.
