Our Experience with Fahrzeugbauer AG in Neuheim In 2021, we commissioned extensive work on our VW Grand California from this company. The goal was to replace the standard AGM battery with a lithium battery and inverter, and to make some other modifications to the vehicle. Unfortunately, our experience with the company was consistently disappointing and marked by defects that far exceeded what one would expect from a professional workshop. Problems with the workmanship: From the outset, the necessary care was lacking. The electrical cabinet in which the electrical components were installed did not meet the standards one would expect from a Swiss company, either in terms of appearance or workmanship. Cables were inadequately secured, some were routed over sharp edges, and strands of wire were exposed. These defects were confirmed by independent experts. The lithium battery, weighing over 20 kilograms, was attached with adhesive tape, tiny screws, and a 10mm square piece of wood. During a vacation trip, it came loose due to vibrations and caused significant damage to the vehicle's electronics. A makeshift repair abroad was necessary, resulting in additional costs and considerable hassle. Further defects: • A rear cargo box, supposedly securely mounted, fell from its bracket during the journey and landed on the road. The mounting was completely inadequate and posed a significant safety risk. The two mounting points on the airline track and the plastic panels are clearly visible. • The installed headlights repeatedly failed due to improperly installed relays. • A fuel tank insulation panel installed by the company came loose during the journey, causing further problems. Customer service and handling of criticism: Attempts to have the defects rectified were extremely frustrating. Repairs were either poorly executed or not carried out at all. The company showed little willingness to engage in conflict and repeatedly blamed the customer. Finding a constructive solution proved impossible. Their handling of criticism was unfriendly and dismissive. Our conclusion: The company initially gives the impression of competence and commitment. Unfortunately, the reality is quite different: shoddy workmanship, poor quality, and unacceptable customer service. The nearly 30,000 Swiss francs we paid are completely disproportionate to the quality of the work delivered. The company did have one competent employee for a while, but he seems to have left again. Otherwise, everything appears rushed and poorly executed. The pictures speak volumes. We strongly advise against having any work done there. For us, this has been a long and expensive ordeal that will now end in legal proceedings. The existing 5-star reviews do little to change that. We are happy to provide references to potential clients at any time and would like to point out that this review has been modified following legal intervention.

Fahrzeugausbauer AG provided me with excellent assistance with a problem I had with my off-grid solar system. My inverter wasn't delivering its full peak power, and even though the system wasn't theirs, they quickly analyzed the problem.
