I've lived in Oberbalm for several years now – so you could say I've filled my fair share of shopping bags 🛍️ at the village shop. And I'm practically a local celebrity by now, like the bread aisle in the morning 😉. A personal greeting by name would be the icing on the cake and would add a bit more sparkle to the somewhat dusty village shop charm 👑 ✨. Another constant companion seems to be the payment terminal, which occasionally develops a mind of its own. When my smartphone or card 💳 supposedly isn't cooperating, it's safe to assume that the terminal itself could use a quick coffee ☕. A little flexibility would be welcome here: restart the till, take a deep breath, smile – and customer and till could be best friends again. That would be in the best interest of the service, the customers, and presumably Volg itself. The village shop is and will remain an important meeting place in the village – convenient, nearby, and indispensable. With a touch more lightheartedness, a bit of humor in everyday life, and a small step towards the customers, "good" could very quickly become "really likeable" 😉.

This is exactly how I imagine a village shop should be. Groceries and everyday items. A very original shop, it still has that individual touch compared to other large, "uniform" stores. Clean and very tidy. Very friendly staff; as we walked by, everyone greeted us and served us respectfully. They immediately found a solution to my questions.
