Below, we would like to explain why we cannot give a good rating and cannot recommend the company. In 2024, we renovated our entrance area and awarded the contract for the construction work to Brunschweiler Bauunternehmung AG. First, to be fair, we would like to highlight what went well: Many of the tasks were carried out carefully and to our satisfaction. The managing director impressed us with his good ideas and suggestions. This was a key reason why we awarded them the contract. Now, however, to the reasons why we cannot give a good rating: * Deadlines were not met. The work was quoted for spring/summer, but it wasn't carried out until autumn. We were only informed that the work would not begin until autumn after we had already placed the order. * Communication regarding the progress of the construction work was inadequate. We often didn't know when someone would be coming to carry out the work. * The quoted costs were exceeded by more than 10%. We might have been able to overlook these points if the final result had been satisfactory. Unfortunately, this was not the case: * The cement coating has visual defects. There are many dark spots for which none of the experts we consulted could explain, but it was obvious that either the material or the workmanship was faulty. * A second problem was that the plastic covering, intended to ensure slow and even drying, was incomplete. Because the plastic only covered part of the area in the entrance, the transition is very unsightly. This might not be a problem for a barnyard, but we have higher standards for the entrance area of a single-family home. The uploaded photos were taken seven months after the completion of construction, and the appearance has not improved significantly since then. A convincing solution to these problems could not be found. The proposed measures would either not be permanent, too expensive, or would carry the risk of making the final result even worse. In conclusion: we incurred additional costs for a flawed result. For these reasons, we cannot give a good rating and cannot recommend the company. ``` Furthermore, we would like to point out that the effort involved in preparing the offer (up to the placement of the order) will be charged by the company, contrary to usual practice and without prior agreement.
