The Corona lockdown caught me completely off guard in my newly moved-into apartment at the end of March... now I had plenty of time for various projects... Thanks to a neighbor's recommendation, I contacted Mr. Felix Schlatter of Schlatter Holzbau, who always helped me in a friendly and patient manner with the implementation of my projects. Among other things, I was able to complete the following projects: 1. Building a raised garden bed for my balcony (210x90x60cm) 2. Recycling an old wooden table for the balcony… shortened from 180cm to 140cm… 3. Adding 12cm high wooden legs to a box spring bed (200x200cm) (so the robot vacuum can clean underneath) 4. Converting an old IKEA wardrobe and an old bathroom mirror cabinet into a vanity for my wife 5. Assembling two bedside tables from a desk and IKEA dining chairs Although Schlatter Holzbau mainly handles large projects, I felt my micro-projects were taken seriously and I was in good hands. I therefore recommend that everyone try tackling such a project at least once… it's incredibly fun! Thanks again, Felix, for your generous help, especially during the lockdown when all the shops were closed.

For my high school graduation project, I was able to build the neck for my cigar box ukulele in Felix Schlatter's workshop – a crucial part of my project that wouldn't have been possible without his support. Felix explained the machinery to me, gave me valuable tips, and constantly motivated me. What I particularly appreciate is that he did all of this free of charge because supporting young people is so important to him. Felix himself said, "As a company, training the next generation is very important to us." And it shows – he and his team dedicate a lot of time to helping and sharing their knowledge. We ordered the timber for a new roof on our allotment garden shed from Schlatter Holzbau. They gave us excellent advice and used structural analysis software to check our design. Now we're proud of our shed, built with timber from Zurich forests. It's definitely worth ordering timber from Schlatter, even for private individuals – the quality and advice are superb!
