Fantastic village up on the mountains with a very homey feeling... Lots of parts to walk cross-country ski. Unfortunately I visited through the covid-19 era so I did not have the chance to go for snowboarding.
Beautiful walks to do. The Oeschinen lake at 1h30 walk. beautiful place.
Kandersteg is a gem. The village has hotels to meet the needs of all travel budgets, plenty of tasty dining opportunities and a range local shops. There is an abundance of local walking trails and hikes that cover a wide range of abilities from easy challenging. One is guaranteed spectacular views on every hike, and just when one thinks the views cannot be surpassed, one rounds a corner and is rewarded with yet another breathtaking view. The local tourist board offers many generous offers for tourists. The people of Kandersteg are welcoming and extremely proud of their beautiful village.
Very helpful finding bike rentals store! The store is just north along the road (5min walk), not yes on google maps even as of Aug ‘22
It's nice to stop by at the village before you go to up to the oschinensee either by cable car or hiking. This village surrounded by mountains so it make the village unique.
We hiked up to Oeschinensee, which is strikingly beautiful. Unfortunately we got inacurate info at the tourist centre about hiking paths suitable for strollers.
