My family I loved Kaltbad shop. Everyone in Switzerland has been so kind except for this shop owner. We are an affluent family from the United States but we are dressed down because we are dressed casually because we are hiking. We were attempting to buy hats for our young sons when the shop owner approached us and asked thet we are not touch anything unless we intended on purchasing it. I looked around and other patrons were trying on jackets and picking up trinkets. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued shopping. I picked up several hand carved figurines to purchase (about $500 worth) as nd the owner, clearly agitated approached me a second time and said, "I must repeat myself. Please do not touch anything unless you intend to purchase it.". I explained that I was planning on purchasing it and how can I purchase it without picking them up? He then said something in German and one of the other patrons started laughing. I told him it was a serious question. How could I purchase anything in his store if I wasn't allowed to pick anything up? The shop owner then said , you are not allowed to purchase in my store. I was dumbstruck. I felt like he was a racist and I would urge others not to go there.
The people there are so kind and helpful. We went there to rent some skating skis. The material was brand new and perfectly fitted us. If you are not experienced with skatings we would rather advise to rent country-skis. We were surprised by the low prices of the renting. Then you will find everything you need for winter sport in this shop. Highly recommended!!!
I don’t review usually but this time I had to. I would have never believed that service at a ski-rental shop would be so insulting and bad. The unfriendly man refused to rend me a pair of skis because I came into his shop ‘unenthusiastic’ and he explained how he has ‘0 patience’ with people like me, who look like they’re not happy to ski. So he wouldn’t rent me skis. Who is he to judge who is enthusiastic and who isn’t? Who is he to pick and choose who gets to ski or who doesn’t? Since when are people who don’t jump into the store singing not allowed to get service? What a petty little man. He thought he was teaching me some kind of lesson. Will never come again. Truly insulting exprience.
Attached next door is a little convenience shop with little souvenirs, coffee and ice cream. Nice treat and alternative since everything around it seems to close early.
We only stopped in for gluwein and a coffee. Staff were super friendly and the gluwein warming and at 4CHF who can say no?
Very friendly, great products, great advice
