Apparently, this company just gave us all a bait-n-switch by offering us a really excellent software called Plex in which we can store all our downloaded movies. Then after more than a year or so, suddenly I have to pay a subscription rate in order to access my own movies, on my own server, on my own bandwidth, at no additional cost to them. For now they are only charging for those that access remotely, or those that have a VPN on their computers, but if they are charging for this now, they'll surely start charging for more in the near future. All this, and I never even updated my server in order for them to switch this change. I'll be switching to Emby now. By policy, I don't pay subscriptions, especially when the service I'd be subscribing to puts no additional costs on them.
