I moved away from Switzerland in 2024. I HAD to pay an increased tax amount just to be allowed to deregister. Otherwise, they would have refused to deregister me. This isn't standard practice; it was explicitly mandated in the municipality of Wald. They said, "You'll pay a bit more now, we know that, but you'll get it back in one or two months." Now I've been waiting for a year and a half, and they expect me to wait up to five years?! I will now pursue every legal avenue to fight this behavior with all the force I can muster!
