I did not plan to come here. I missed my train stop. Somewhere after Wengen, the universe decided I needed to get off at Allmend. And honestly, this turned out to be one of the best train stops I have ever missed. Allmend Skiing Resort completely surprised me. The views pull you in, but the food makes you stay. I ordered the penne pasta with Bolognese. Simple dish, zero shortcuts. You can tell the kitchen knows exactly what it is doing. The pasta was cooked right, the sauce was rich, balanced, and followed to the letter. It smelled incredible before I even took the first bite, and the taste backed it up fully. My wife went with the red Thai curry. We asked for it spicy, properly spicy. They delivered. No toned-down tourist version. Full flavor, real heat, and honestly one of the best Thai curries I’ve had. And yes, in Switzerland. That alone deserves respect. Now the real showstopper. The Toblerone mousse. If you are in Switzerland and you have not had Toblerone, you are already missing out. But this mousse takes it to another level. Smooth, rich, perfectly sweet, and somehow lighter than expected. It does not just taste Swiss. It feels Swiss. Thoughtful, indulgent, and done right. This place reminded me that sometimes the best experiences come from missed plans. If you are skiing, traveling, or just passing through, make the effort to stop at Allmend. Or miss your train on purpose. You will thank yourself later.
Atmosphere is very nice, location is fantastic if you're skiing to Wengen. Both inside and outside on the sunny terrace are great. Service is friendly and relatively quick, even when it's busy. Food was merely OK and very expensive, even for Swiss standards - I live in Zurich for 20 years, so used to Swiss prices. But 24.50 CHF for a mediocre Chässchnitte (a single slice of bread, with a slice of ham, covered in cheese and baked in the oven) is over the top. Pasta with meat sauce was bland, with pasta overcooked so much that Italy would like to have a word. The additional apple sauce is merely a generous tablespoon. All in all I would recommend Allmend only for a drink; prices for that are slightly more reasonable.
Food, service and atmosphere trifecta. I'm surprised not a lot of people are here. The place is awesome, service is the best (Cony your the best) and the view holy! Take the train from Lauterbrunnen for 20 mis it's all worth it! Thank you
This last minute stop turned out to be a highlight of our trip! The view, the food and the service were impeccable. It’s a quick walk from Wengen (or take the 5 minute train) or 10 minutes from Kleine Scheidegg Don’t miss the homemade spaetzli with local cheese and the burger shines. The complimentary local schnapps was the icing on the cake. Please excuse my food photo - I forgot to take one because it looked so good, and it was.
Amazing views, friendly and bilingual staff, and most importantly delicious food at a good price. Beautiful scenery to view from the patio with cozy decor inside and out. If you're in the area, make a stop.
Unexpected Gem Awaits… On our way back from Jungfraujoch to Wengen, we stopped for a late lunch and came across this restaurant near Allmend. At first, I didn’t expect much, just a quick meal to fill our stomachs but I was completely wrong. The interior was beautifully decorated with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and when the food arrived, it turned out to be one of the best meals we had on our entire trip. If you’re visiting this area, you should definitely give it a try. Amazing food, wonderful vibe.
