Everything was paved with concrete, and there were plenty of toilets. Switzerland's biggest sporting event – over 400,000 visitors were expected. • 🔹 Competitions in Swiss wrestling, stone throwing, and national gymnastics. • 🔹 Venue: a purpose-built wrestling stadium in Mollis, with approximately 56,500 seats. • 🔹 Official festival bull: "Macho," a genuine breeding bull from Glarus, was the live prize for the Swiss wrestling king. • 🔹 Landmark: "Max the Bull," the 20-meter-high wooden sculpture I explained to you earlier. 👉 By the way, Pirmin Reichmuth (SZ) won – he became Swiss wrestling king in Glarus in 2025.
Overall, it was a successful festival, except for the man who was run over by the train. However, there was a barrier in place, and it was deliberately crossed. The winning bull, Zibu, was magnificent, the stalls had a lot to offer, and the wrestlers, nestled in the sawdust ring amidst the Glarus mountains, presented a fabulous spectacle. Apart from two incorrect decisions by the judges, there was nothing to criticize.
I was very happy to attend a traditional Swiss event. However, when buying drinks at the bar, you absolutely must pay attention to the price and the actual amount paid, as they often overcharge. Especially when paying by card, they don't show you the total. For example, we bought a beer for CHF 7.50 and a tea for CHF 5, but they charged me CHF 20.50. After I noticed, they only wanted to refund me CHF 7. They also refused to return the CHF 1 bottle deposit.
