I was at the Knobel bakery today and ordered a chicken schnitzel sandwich. Since it was taking too long, I wanted to switch to a pre-made bratwurst, which was about CHF 1.50 cheaper. When I politely asked the lady if that was possible, she said, "Yes, but I won't give you change." In the rush and because of her cheeky, loud manner, I just swallowed it, but in retrospect, I felt really stupid. Why couldn't she just cancel the schnitzel sandwich and bill me correctly? It's not about the money for me, it's about the principle. I find the way they treat customers disrespectful. You'd rather have friendly, welcoming service, someone who works with a smile, rather than someone who almost shouts at you. What a shame.
The price-performance ratio is poor; the prices are normal, but the quality leaves much to be desired. I would expect better from a bakery. The schnitzel sandwich was soggy, just schnitzel with a little ketchup. The portion of Wienerli with fries was barely enough for my two-year-old son.
Update January 2023: Hidden price increase? Schnitzel sandwich with fries. It used to be two pieces of meat, and the portion of fries feels about 25% smaller. ============================= Boring menu, long wait times. Poor value for money. During the pandemic, when sitting inside wasn't allowed, there wasn't even a place to take shelter, for example, in the rain. I find the owner very pushy and nosy.
