Today we were at that secondhand shop again. I saw a small cassette recorder. Portable, like the ones from the 70s and 80s. Nothing special...it wasn't really legible whether it was 15 or 75 francs. Of course, 75 is completely outrageous, like many of the prices in that shop...I could just look at the online offers, they said casually...too bad I'm selling those very items there...for 40 francs... It's a secondhand shop, not a boutique in Zurich...and that's why the Braun radio/record player has been sitting there for years, priced at 900 francs... It's a nice secondhand shop in general. I was interested in a radio/record player unit, unpriced and untested. The nice lady called the owner, who then quoted 100 francs, which was too much for me. My colleague wanted to know the price of a cassette recorder that was lying there without a price tag. The curt reply was, "There simply wasn't a price tag anymore; someone had removed it." It was almost as if we had removed it ourselves. So he didn't tell us a price. A good salesperson would have asked me what price I had in mind for the radio cabinet and tried to sell it to me for 80 francs. Then they would have given my colleague a price. As it was, we didn't buy anything, not even the records we had originally selected.
Large store, 4 floors. It has nice things, from antique furniture to knick-knacks. Unfortunately, everything is ridiculously overpriced! That's why they always have the same items and very little new stock arrives. The staff is friendly, but they lack the expertise to negotiate prices.
A large, four-story Brockhaus bookstore with a huge selection at reasonable prices. Great furniture and pictures. There's seating with tea and coffee service. The records aren't in the best condition, unfortunately. I still managed to find something.
