I've always had good experiences with the Tourist Information office in Winterthur. The staff are friendly and competent, whether I needed tickets for an event or just specific information. It's worth contacting them for any questions related to culture.

Unfortunately, it's almost unbelievable: one of the biggest festivals in the region is currently taking place, the "Weinländer Herbstfest" (Wine Country Autumn Festival) in Hettlingen, which advertises that the entry button, valid for public transport throughout the ZVV network, can be purchased at the Tourist Information office in Winterthur. Arriving there on Friday to secure two of these buttons, I found a sign on the door: "Closed due to a school trip." Okay, so I went to the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) counter where I was informed that they weren't available for purchase there, but were referred to the ZVV sales point under the mushroom-shaped roof. When I inquired about the Autumn Festival button there, the two ladies behind the counter were already red-faced. They said they'd already received dozens of requests for it, but unfortunately hadn't received any from the Winterthur Tourist Information office. Is it really impossible, when they're away on a school trip, to keep a little bit of customer demand in mind and deliver a bucketful of buttons to the ZVV sales point under the mushroom-shaped roof? It's not that far. As a native of Winterthur, I'm disappointed, especially since I wanted to use the tourist information office for the first time in ages to get from Hegi to Hettlingen by public transport tomorrow, Saturday, without any hassle.
