There are two information centers in the village of Elm: this one and the neighboring one, dedicated to the Tschingelhörner mountain range, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Tectonic Arena Sardona" (Tektonikarena Sardona). This center has staff who can answer your questions. The neighboring center has information boards. I'd like to point out that the bus stop for Schwangen is located right next to this center, not on the highway. The bus from Schwangen dropped us off on the highway, and we were sure there was a stop for the return trip there as well. There is a stop, but the bus goes through the village. We barely made it off the highway in time. So, be careful. The visit took place in October 2025.
One star is already too much. We wanted to hike the winter trail to the Mungenhütte. A complete disaster! They charged us 18 francs for the cable car. Despite wearing hiking boots and using poles, we couldn't reach the hut because the icy path repeatedly slid down our backsides. We had to turn back, as did several other people we spoke to. Perhaps someone should get off their butts and do something about it – maybe a tracked vehicle or some kind of ice axe. It would also be helpful if you could correct the typo on the sign at the mountain station, but be warned, that will involve some work.
A tour at the source. Inspiration for Amsterdam.
Beautiful area... in summer and winter. Lots of possibilities. Very friendly people!
