Booked there for a memorial gathering with an apero and dinner. They were stingy with everything from general customer service, manners, empathy and helpfulness to food and beverages. The say the food was mediocre is an understatement.
We were there with a group of 20 people, ordered a set menu in advance. The service was friendly but clumsy. First, a bland salad. The main course was a pork steak with vegetables, pasta, and a decent morel sauce, but that didn't redeem the restaurant. And all that for fifty francs per person... In my company cafeteria, that costs ten francs and isn't any worse. Then came desserts, wine, coffee, etc. Incidentally, the coffee was completely undrinkable with a questionable chemical taste. It was okay, but I can't in good conscience recommend it for that price.
If your friend wants to go there twice and orders the same dish, it must be good! She chose the Appenzeller Cordon Bleu, which tastes really great. I had Rösti as a side dish with my folded and stuffed schnitzel. That doesn't exactly deserve top marks. But the meat did!
We went for a game dinner and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was very solid and well-prepared, the portions were generous, and the value for money was truly fair. The service was friendly, attentive, and pleasantly unfussy—just the right amount of time to enjoy a relaxed evening. Added to that is the very cozy ambiance, which invites you to feel at home. Overall, a highly recommended place for good food in a relaxed atmosphere.
A lovely little restaurant, oh, I hope no one's offended, I mean, places like this are becoming extinct, but it's really cozy. Very good food with lively service that doesn't seem stressed, but is friendly – that's an art that not many people have mastered anymore. We'll definitely go again.
Through CRS Getriebetechnik (Mr. Rüegg), we found our way to the Sonne restaurant in Hittnau – a real "hit" in Hittnau – for lunch. We were served by Ms. Nauer, a very nice and friendly waitress! Chef Mr. Schneider treated us to his butcher's cutlets with vegetables. It was divine!
