The Aare Gorge "Aareschlucht" is one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Switzerland , a place that truly takes your breath away. Walking through the narrow wooden walkways carved into the rock, with the turquoise Aare River rushing powerfully below, feels almost surreal. The contrast between the rugged limestone walls and the crystal-clear water creates an unforgettable atmosphere. The path is very well maintained and safe, suitable for visitors of all ages. You can easily walk through the entire gorge in about 40–50 minutes, and there are plenty of spots to stop, take photos, and simply enjoy the incredible scenery. The lighting inside the gorge is beautiful, especially when the sunlight filters through from above. Both entrances (Meiringen and Innertkirchen) are easily accessible by car or train, Entrance West hat enough parking slots. The staff are friendly, and the facilities are clean and well organized.

This gorge in Switzerland turned out to be a fantastic break during our long journey to the campsite. We initially just wanted to stretch our legs, but we got so much more than we bargained for. We have seen online that the water is absolutely stunning - crystal clear and mesmerizing but we didnt get to see it with the recent heavy rain. However, the rock formations are incredible and truly awe-inspiring. Standing there, you can't help but wonder how nature carved out such beauty over countless years. It genuinely feels like stepping back in time and witnessing geological history unfold before your eyes. What made it even better was seeing our children's excitement and wonder as they explored. It's rare to find a place that captivates both adults and kids equally. Highly recommend this as a stop if you're traveling through the area - even if you're just planning a quick leg stretch, give yourself extra time to properly appreciate this natural wonder. NOTE: Some campsites offer discount 10/20% so perhaps go on your way our of the site rather than you way in to save some money .

Beautiful Gorge 👌😍 There are 2 entrances for the Gorge. If you are entering from West ,enjoy the views and reach the end point.if someone is tired to walk back there is also facility to go back by train free of charge as your ticket already included in that (from East entrance). It's around 40-50 mins walk one way.

This place is stunningly beautiful. The well constructed path is pinned to the edge of the gorge providing an incredible view of the swirling waters and steep cliff faces. It would be good to have more information about the Trockene Lamm gorge and clearer pointers to its location relative to the Aare gorge.

We were told about this place in the Ice Grotto at the Rhone Glacier. We made time to visit and what an amazing place. Really worth the visit. We started at the visitor centre and walked the gradual uphill route. Stunning geology, including a waterfall. Great surprise at the top, our ticket price of SF12 included the option if a train ride back down to the visitor centre. 5* attraction. Cafe at both ends do choose wisely.

Gorge is very well maintained with proper pathways. Beautiful views and cooling air. Highly recommend to start from the West station and go back to Meirigen via the East train.
