This is the best dinner we have had in Switzerland during our vacation. The house salad is super fresh and the olive oil has a very special flavor. The beef steak is perfectly cooked. The pizza with spicy olive oil has a very nice taste. We also ordered chicken soup which is very good. After taking pictures at the beautiful lake shore in Lungern, we found this restaurant is the only one open for dinner but it offers incredible great food. The waitress and the owner were very friendly and greeted us. My last picture probably captures this restaurant from far away.
Great location right by Lake Lungern. If you want a lakeside table, better reserve in advance — it gets busy and seats go fast. We had our last lunch in Switzerland here, and the place was packed; staff were super busy but still friendly. I ordered the beef marinated in white wine for 10 hours — hands down the best dish I had in Switzerland! Strongly recommend it. Maybe it appealed to me because the slow-braised style reminded me a bit of Chinese cooking. The cheese potato dish, though, was a bit heavy for my taste — way too buttery, almost like the potatoes were soaking in butter 😅. That said, I’d still highly recommend this restaurant overall — the food’s great, the ice cream was delicious, parking is easy, and the lake view is absolutely stunning.
My expectations of this place were let down a bit by the lack of food options they had when we got there, and the service was not excellent. The pizza was ok, and the place was clean but it wasn’t the best experience otherwise.
Waitress is super nice. And the barley soup is exceptional. Beautiful place, good view.
I guess you review the restaurant and the camping at one place! Camping: The camping place was super sweet. We were lucky and got a spot right by the water with a beautiful view of both the lake and the church. Did you guys know that the church bells right every hour throughout the night? oh and at 5am (or 6am not sure) they ring continuously for 5 minutes? You didn't? We also didn't, but now we do. Wow. That's all I gotta say. Somehow I'm not deducting a star though, because I don't think the camp grounds can help it - but just be aware!!! It's a beautiful place and I'd actually still choose to come back and camp again -but I'd be sure to bring headphones/ear plugs. ;) Restaurant: We were lucky because we didn't have a reservation but I think we went early enough that we could get one of the free tables. That tends to happen when you hike for so long - you don't mind eating dinner at 5:30. The wait staff was quite nice and the beer was good. We also both chose to share fischknusperli and rösti with vegetables. The meal was delicious.
Such great food and views!! It was a Saturday, and we had the seasonal menu of venison racks, spätzle, brussel sprouts, red cabbage, mushroom sauce, and rösti - all outstanding 👌🏾👌🏾 Definitely a good find
