September 2018, moved addresses within the same city and postcode. Building from old address was demolished. Stadwerk knew my new address from the Einwohnerkontrolle. (Afterall they're both Wintethur city burocrats). Stadtwerk was sending my bills to the old address and then betreibung in February 2019. The betreibungsamt, another cohort of burocrats, magically, found my new address and sent me the bills including all fees and penalties. Calling the Stadtwerk and asking them what's the reason for not simply sending my bills to the new address. Apparently I had to change my address on their website so now I had to pay an arm and a leg for this UNACCEPTABLE mistake. August 2019, still trying to clarify what's the reason for getting a second betreibung, apparently that was a second bill, again for the same reason. STOP MISUSING THE BETREIBUNGSAMT!
Unfortunately, the experience was anything but pleasant. The meter reader showed up unannounced – which is simply unacceptable when working from home. The subsequent contact with customer service only made matters worse: instead of a clear answer, they constantly beat around the bush, and eventually became quite irritated. It almost seemed as if my request was deliberately misunderstood, just so they wouldn't have to deal with it. Prior notification and respectful communication would have been the very least they could do.
The move went perfectly. The customer service representative was very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work!
The registration process for the customer portal via SwissID is extremely tedious and harassing... and even after you've managed it, the required data isn't even visible. For me, it can only be summed up in one word: incompetent... unfortunately...
FIND OUT Stadtwerk is confusing its customers and sending bills to the wrong tenants... for a year they made a mistake with us... Check 100x, be careful... you may be paying your neighbor's electricity.
Several times over the past five years, I've called the municipal utility company asking them to stop addressing me as "Mr." because I'm a woman. I've also returned letters with incorrect titles, either asking them to omit the title altogether. It's apparently quite complex to address people correctly.
