One should definitely take a boat ride at the falls – it’s a wonderful experience. Seeing the falls from so close is truly incomparable. There are several options to choose from; we picked the yellow line, which is the longer ride going up to the German border. The boat driver gave explanations in both German and English, which was very helpful. Our driver was excellent and even took us close to the falls three times! Getting lightly drenched by the spray was a fun and refreshing part of the experience. We visited on a weekend, but surprisingly it wasn’t too crowded, so we were able to enjoy the place peacefully.
What a crazy experience! We chose "The Rock Tour" and climbed the rock on the center of the Rhine Falls in the pouring rain, gusty winds, and extreme cold. Our boat captain was amazing and safely got us there and back in the extreme conditions, he was awesome! All in all, we loved it with these less than ideal conditions. It was that much more exhilarating - highly recommend for the sheer beauty and intense force of nature!
Rhyfall Mändli – Schifffahrt am Rheinfall @ Switzerland 🚤🇨🇭 📍 Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland Rhyfall Mändli offers boat rides that take you up close to the spectacular Rheinfall, Europe’s largest waterfall. We bought our tickets at the counter and took the Blue Line, a scenic ride that brings you near the base of the thundering cascades, where you can feel the mist and hear the roar of the rushing water. Boarding is straightforward, and the boats are well-maintained with seating for a comfortable ride. The closer you get to the falls, the more dramatic the view—perfect for photography and a unique way to experience this natural wonder. 🧭 Tip: Bring a waterproof jacket or camera cover, as you may get splashed. The earlier in the day you go, the fewer crowds you’ll encounter
It's a nice experience to take the (very affordable!) boat tour. The guide in the green route boat had quiet some humor. Also if you get the chance, sit on the chair on the bow when going into the waterfall, it makes the experience so much better! Points of attention: quiet a steep walk from the parking lots and a high chance you'll get wet in the boat!
You do need to book in my view for the boat to the centre rock of the falls. However, please note the steps are very steep, narrow and I found a little slippery. So, not suitable for all. However, I would suggest the 70 minute round trip which I think would suite all.
Boat tour is worth it to go right up to the falls. Took the 15 minute tour but it felt longer and I didn’t need any more time to get up close to the falls. 8.50 euros was A good price. There is also plenty of parking for 5euros
