Expérience unique! Ils ont différents types de train : diesel à vapeur et diesel normal. La vapeur est amusante mais un peu bruyante et malodorante :) Il y avait des nuages épais au milieu mais c'était très clair au sommet de la montagne !
Ça vaut le coup (surtout si vous bénéficiez de 50% de réduction avec SwissPass), des paysages fantastiques, l'un des points forts de mon voyage. Mais il y a un point négatif : la société possède environ 4 trains à vapeur (géniaux, comme annoncé) et 1 train diesel. Le train à vapeur est un peu enfumé mais c’est la méthode traditionnelle authentique. Le train diesel produit des fumées de diesel étouffantes qui sont très désagréables et gâchent l'expérience. Si vous êtes dans un train diesel, essayez de vous asseoir loin du moteur. L'entreprise devrait remplacer le train diesel par un train à vapeur, le rendre électrique ou simplement faire circuler moins de trains. Il est possible de voir la vue et de se lever pour prendre des photos même si vous n'avez pas les meilleures places - mais si vous souhaitez vous asseoir à l'extérieur, assurez-vous d'arriver tôt à la gare pour être en tête de la file d'attente. La nourriture au restaurant au sommet est correcte mais pas géniale - restauration rapide typique d'une cantine.
En tant que passionné de train, j’ai vraiment apprécié l’aller et le retour. Une journée fabuleuse.
Last July we have been in Brienz and took the Brienz-Rothorn Train which is called BRB. The station is right in the center of Brienz, opposite the SBB train station. The staff was not really friendly to be honest, which I could not understand as it was in a time when all railway providers were suffering from lack of passengers due to Covid-19. However the trip to the top of the Rothorn was unique. We've enjoyed it very much to ride through forests, tunnels and huge fields with cows. Once arrived on the top we were blown away from the amazing view over the lake of Brienz. We had something to drink in the restaurant on the top and spend roughly an hour up there before taking the next traing back downhill. The train stops at a station during its ride from where you can hike up or down as you please. Great experience for anybody who wants to enjoy a not so expensive train ride in Switzerland.
The views along the way and at the summit are amazing. A major disappointment, however, was the diesel locomotive on the uphill journey at 8 AM — it smelled bad and didn’t have a pleasant sound. It would be helpful to indicate which departures use diesel, as most people would prefer to avoid it. With the diesel locomotive, the ride itself has no value.
