We had Mr. Matthaei soundproof our ventilation system. He quoted us CHF 930 for the work and estimated up to two hours of labor. This took less than 30 minutes, cost CHF 150 in materials, and involved a 20-minute travel time. With a travel fee of CHF 100, this equates to an hourly rate of CHF 1360 (!). Mr. Matthaei refused to discuss the matter and insisted on his quote. While this is his right, as a customer, I feel cheated, ignored, and ripped off. Their website states: "For you as a customer, we always seek the best, most efficient, and most cost-effective (!!) solution." Oh, je vois... ? I could have done the same work myself for just under CHF 150 if I had known. Malheureusement, je n'ai reçu d'autres devis qu'après. These ranged from CHF 280 to CHF 380. So it is possible to treat customers fairly and not rip them off. Furthermore, Mr. Matthaei damaged the parquet flooring and the ceiling during his brief visit, which we now have to have repaired.
