Got up there early to avoid the crowd. They are still doing construction on the new building. The cable systems are fully functional. It felt uneasy to walk on a mountain top. I wondered when the gust of wind would kick off and blow me away. That didn't happen. I was able to walk to the ridges, take some pictures and rest in the wooden shacks and enjoy 360 views of the Alps.
From the moment the cable car lifted off, I knew this would be something special. Schilthorn is pure magic — endless peaks, crisp alpine air, and that breathtaking 360° panorama that leaves you speechless. Some places don’t just take your breath away — they remind you how to breathe again. Schilthorn is that kind of place.
Absolutely amazing experience. From the bottom to the top it's a thrilling ride on the different trams all the way to the top. Well worth the price for the experience of seeing the Alps from such a unique vantage point. We were packed into the tram like sardines as this is a hot spot for tourists. There is a lot of construction going on as well so only one tram was running each stop. There was a lot of construction happening at Piz Gloria too so pictures were somewhat limited.
Was traveling with family. Great place to visit. Had lunch reservations in the rotating restaurant. Lots of construction going on - which I thought was fascinating and exciting to watch. The crane operator was moving supplies. The weather changes quickly and glad my daughter had a headband I could borrow for my ears (sensitive). I was prepared otherwise. Views were amazing.
Interesting approach to construction and health and safety. These are apparently total normal ways of accessing the facilities. Someone needs a walk through with the builders and a person who hasn't been before and maybe put up a couple of extra direction signs. And a "thanks for your patience sign" would be nice.
Loved this place. We were very lucky with the weather, I don't think you can normally wear summer gear up here! The revolving restaurant was cool, food was good. The James Bond experience downstairs is worth a look too. On a clear day the views are spectacular!
